Memories...

The opening of BBC Grandstand on National Day 1984.

I love the music from The Champions that the BBC use, I have never been able to track down a copy though.

*Update* Many thanks to Lyn Hall for providing me with this theme tune! I am now a happy bunny!

Desert Orchid, the heart of a lion.

The closing stages of the 1989 Victor Chandler Chase, his epic battle with old Panto Prince.

Musical edit of Kauto Star's 2007 Gold Cup win.

The new legend.

The 1987 Cheltenham Gold Cup. I was 10 years old at this time, and I remember asking my Dad to put some money on Cybrandian for me each way, as he was one of my favourites.

I had a heck of a run for my money!

The 1986 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Dawn Run, what a legend of a mare. So sad that her story ended the way it did not long after this amazing win.

Run and Skip was my absolute favourite racehorse as a child. Lovely to see him again there.

The 1985 Champion Hurdle. A really impressive win by another legendary horse, See You Then. Winning in the style of a true champion.

Also good to see Dessie again.

My favourite National winner, Mr Frisk, in 1990. Sir Jest was also a favourite of mine. I've included this one because I remember so many of the horses in it.

Sadly there were fatalities in this race, in particular the horrific fall of Roll A Joint at the Canal Turn.

Doesn't seem possible that all these races were so long ago.
